Fingerprint method breakthrough

(BBC News) A breakthrough in the way fingerprints are taken could lead to hundreds of cold cases being reopened.
The new method, to be revealed by Northamptonshire Police, enables scientists to visualise fingerprints even after the print has been removed.

PhD project: Physical and Chemical Methods in Forensic Age Determinations

University of the West of Scotland PhD Studentship Scheme.
This project involves a multidisciplinary approach centred on forensic chemistry, physics and dentistry involving the development and application of physical and chemical techniques to investigations which require time related information of unknown remains, such as age when death occurred and time since death. Recent studies have shown the potential for X-ray analysis of layers within human teeth gives an indication of age at death of an unknown individual, but require refinement.
