Your BAHID Councillors Dr Carole Davenport, Dr Steve Walden and Isabel Burton attended the first Taphos Nomos Conference hosted by the University of Central Lancashire in November. This groundbreaking conference was the first to bring together the differing scales of taponomy - palaeontology, human origins, archaeology and forensic science - into a single event. Contributions to the conference came from a multi-cultural and diverse range of delegates from the UK, USA, Argentina, Chile, France, Portugal, Poland, Spain, Sweden, Italy, Cyprus, Holland, Slovenia and South Africa.

The conference concluded with discussions on how to further develop the field of taphonomy. The conference with be a bienniel event. with many already looking forward to meeting again in 2020.
